UPDATE: Graduation, new shot and webseries

GRAD…

I haven’t posted anything since I finished the trailer of my film, and that was a very long time ago! A few things happened since then. First I finished the film, right on time, it had a good reaction from people and I am preparing it for submission to festivals, there are just a few corrections to be made with the colour grading (my render wasn’t very succesful :/). I can’t have it public online yet, since a few festivals require that I don’t, even though I haven’t applied to them, I want to avoid any rejections because of that. I will upload it as soon as I know it won’t be an issue, but in the mean time here is the Trailer again 🙂

Making the film was a really fun and productive process, even though the result was not what I was expecting, but I learned a lot and it left me ready to make another film. Beside making my own film I also collaborated with a lot of people from my department and also students from other faculties, and that by itself was another great experience. I did the entire soundtrack for a friend of mine, Mauricio Pampin, you can check his work here: https://vimeo.com/user4898986

Mauricio’s film was very successful in the end,  it had great acceptance and won an award from the school. I’m glad I was part of his process too.

During the last few weeks of production everybody was going crazy, and I ended up asking for people’s help and helping people all over the place, specially film students, I had the chance to do music for a few of them as well as sound. It came to a point where we switched tasks and a film student was cleaning up my messy editing while I was cleaning up his sound effects, and we scored an entire film in one day too. They were tense weeks of work, but it was a great experience for sure!

CG SPECTRUM…

Now that school is over I am back to animating full-time to finish the last semester at Cg Spectrum. I started working on a parkour shot for my demo reel last week, and I think it is starting to look promising. I did a few different versions of what I want the character to do, just to explore a few options and help my planning a bit more. Here are some examples of that:

I will start the blocking part next week, after a few tweak from the feedback people gave me on these takes.

WEB SERIES…

Another project that I am working on, and that came as a result of working with people from film last semester, is a web series called The Super Alliance. I will be doing their theme music over the next few weeks, and maybe some background music as well. Their first episode will be released soon and it is looking really good!  I can’t show anything that I have done for them, but here is their facebok page with all of the updates if you want to know more about the project:

And….. I guess that’s it, that is most of what I have been doing lately. There are a few more cool events coming up, one the most important ones is Siggraph and a lot of awesome opportunities that have been coming with being part of the conference, but that is a whole other exciting adventure, and it belongs to another post in the future 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Fernando
